Sneak theft, snatch theft, stimulant drugs and traffic
accidents are some of the various crimes and accidents in
which anyone could get involved. The duty of the National
Policy Agency is to protect the rights and freedom of each
individual and maintain public safety and order by preventing
and regulating such crimes and accidents, and realize a
"society in which people can live safely in peace."
The police organization is made up of the National Public
Safety Commission and the National Police Agency at the
national level, and prefectural public safety commissions
and prefectural police department at the prefectural level.
Under the control of the National Public Safety Commission,
the National Police Agency not only plans and drafts police-related
systems, develops the basis for police activities including
police communications, education and training of police
personnel, and crime statistics, but also provides guidance
and coordination concerning national or wide-regional issues
to prefectural police departments.
