Japan's economic society is facing new environmental
changes, such as globalization, declining birthrate
and an aging an society, and the emergence of environmental
and energy issues.
In order to overcome such challenges and ensure the
stable development of Japan's economic society, it
is necessary to create an economic and social system
where a wide range of entities, such as enterprises,
individuals and non-profit organizations (NPOs), can
exercise their abilities and potential to the fullest
extent possible.
From this viewpoint, and with the aim of ensuring
development of Japan's economic society through improving
the national economic vitality, the Ministry of Economy,
Trade and Industry puts forth efforts in a wide range
of areas, such as economic management and economic
structural reform, energy policy, creation of a recycling-oriented
society, innovation and technology development that
support innovation, assistance to regional economies
and small and medium enterprises, and integrated domestic
and external economic policy.
