Current environmental issues stem from the excessive
environmental burden of the daily lives of the people
and ordinary business activities. To resolve these
issues, we have to reform the modalities of modern
society based on mass production, mass consumption,
and mass disposal into a sustainable one. @
In order to take specific measures toward this goal,
the Ministry of the Environment has been:
1) Carrying out various measures single-handedly for
the areas of such as waste measures, pollution control,
natural environmental conservation, and protection
of wild animals and plants.
2) Taking measures in cooperation with the other ministries
and agencies for the areas of global warming, ozone
layer protection, recycling, chemical substances,
marine pollution prevention, conservation of forests,
green space, rivers and lakes, Environmental Impact
Assessment (EIA), and monitoring and measuring of
radioactive materials.
3) Actively leading the environmental policy of the
entire government through such efforts as the Basic
Environment Plan.
