Cultural arts, such as music, literature,
fine arts, drama, animation, movies, and cultural properties
are indispensable to enrich our lives.
The Agency for Cultural Affairs supports various cultural
activities such as creative artistic endeavors, international
cultural exchanges by dispatching domestic artists and
inviting artists overseas, and the revitalization of
cultural facilities including art museums and theaters.
The Agency also designates cultural properties which
are considered particularly significant as Important
Cultural Properties or Important Intangible Cultural
Properties, and provides assistance and advice to preserve,
manage and utilize thearchitecture and other structures,fine
and applied arts, and traditional performing arts among
ancient heritage which are found throughout Japan. Moreover
the Agency also provides Japanese language education
to foreigners and protects copyright and related rights
and publishing rights. Currently, the Agency is working
on the compilation of policy on copyright and related
rights to adapt to the Information Technology (IT) society.
