On November 6, Mr. Osamu Fujimura, Chief Cabinet Secretary, received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Fernando Damata Pimentel, Minister of Development, Industry and Trade of the Federative Republic of Brazil, at the Prime Minister's Office for approximately 25 minutes from 04:40 p.m.. An overview of the meeting is as follows:
- At the beginning of the meeting, Chief Cabinet Secretary Fujimura welcomed Minister Pimentel's visit to Japan following his last visit in May this year and referred to the invitation of Ms. Dilma Vana Rousseff, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, to Japan.
- Minister Pimentel mentioned the promotion of export of Brazilian-made products, his expectations of the transfer of technology and cooperation from Japan, and the advancement in cooperation in shipbuilding in recent years. At the same time, Minister Pimentel expressed his gratitude for accepting Brazilian students on the basis of the "Science Without Borders" program. In response, Chief Cabinet Secretary Fujimura stated that he was also pleased that cooperation was progressing in some areas, and he would like to appropriately work in a cooperative manner on problems between the two countries.
- Finally, Minister Pimentel stated that because of the long, friendly relationship with Japan, trust in and respect to Japan built through the community of Japanese descents in Brazil, and Japan's high level of technology and economic power, Japan is Brazil's strategic partner not only in Asia but in the world, while also being a true friend of Brazil.
