Meeting between Prime Minister Noda and Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon

On September 26, Prime Minister Noda met with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon, for about 20 minutes from 11:30 a.m. (local time). An overview of the meeting is as follows:
- The meeting commenced with Ban Ki-moon welcoming the Prime Mister to the United Nations General Assembly. Ban Ki-moon then went on to express his gratitude for Japan's contributions to Peacekeeping Operations (PKO), the Fifth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICADV), and for its contributions to disaster prevention initiatives.
- Prime Minister Noda welcomed the success of the High-level Meeting on the Rule of Law held on September 24. The Prime Minister also stated that Japan also places importance and priority on the establishment of the rule of law in the international community. Prime Minister Noda also requested the support of the Secretary-General to ensure the success of the TICADV and the 3rd World Conference on Disaster Reduction in 2015.
- The Secretary-General then raised the topic of the current East Asian situation, and the Prime Minister responded by explaining Japan's position concerning current Japan-China relations. Prime Minister Noda also explained the situation of the Japan-Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) consultation.
