Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda held a ceremony to present the National Honor Award at the Prime Minister's Office to Ms. Saori Yoshida, and awarded the certificate of commendation, the shield and the commemorative gift.

The award was presented to honor the distinguished accomplishments of Ms. Saori Yoshida, who achieved an unprecedented feat in the history of wrestling by winning 13 consecutive world tournament titles including world championship titles and Olympic titles, and explored the frontier or the world of women's sports, with her continued daily training and efforts, and as well brought great excitement to many people of Japan and the light of hope and courage to society.

The National Honor Award was established in August 1977 to honor those persons, respected by a broad spectrum of the people, whose distinguished accomplishments have brought the light of hope to society.
