Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda held the eighth meeting of the Headquarters for Administrative Reform Implementation at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on the proposal by the Council on Administrative Reform, thorough feedback of the results of the review of administrative programs into the budget requests, promotion of the government CIO system, the results of the FY2012 follow-up on the Basic Policy for the Review of Clerical Work and Projects for Independent Administrative Agencies, and items requiring further improvement.

The Prime Minister said in his opening address, "Administrative reform is a theme that we have been addressing earnestly since we took over the government, including themes such as the implementation of review of government programs, reduction of remunerations for national public servants, reform of independent administrative agencies, and the reform of the special account system. We must try to obtain sufficient understanding of the people on such efforts and results thereof. On the other hand, there is no satisfactory achievement goal for these kinds of efforts; it is precisely an endless project that must be worked on constantly. A cabinet decision on the guidelines for budget requests reformulation was made shortly before. Regarding the review of administrative programs, a hearing is implemented at the political level with Deputy Prime Minister Okada taking the lead. I would like to ask each ministry to review the programs and to reflect the results thoroughly in the budget requests."
