Government-RENGO Summit Meeting
Thursday, April 26, 2012
Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda held a meeting with Mr. Nobuaki Koga, President of the Japanese Trade Union Confederation (RENGO), and others representing RENGO at the Prime Minister's Office.
The Prime Minister said in his opening address, "Our Cabinet has three major missions. First is the reconstruction from the disaster. Second is the battle against the nuclear power station accident. Third is the revival of the Japanese economy.
Regarding these missions, I believe we have been working hard and steadily. In addition, there will be many other prioritized issues in the Diet deliberations from now on. There are legislations related to the reform of the system of national civil servants, and those related to employment. There is also the comprehensive reform of social security and taxation systems. While these are all major challenges, I would like to commit full effort to reach concrete conclusions through thorough discussions, and to move politics forward.
Today, I would like to hear explanations on the priority policies for FY2013 that RENGO has summarized recently, and I would like to take them into consideration in the policy formulation from now on.
Our basic stance is to overcome the issues we are facing one by one with the vision of creating a country where people can have hopes and pride. Asking for your understanding on this stance, I would like to realize politics for the people by joining our forces more closer than ever with RENGO, so as to realize a society wherein people can feel assured and realize that tomorrow will be a better day.
