Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda held a meeting of the Council on the Promotion of "New Public Commons" at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on issues for consideration and initiatives of the Government.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said, "Today's meeting marks the restart of the Council on the Promotion of 'New Public Commons'. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all of you who have gathered here today, including those who joined us as new members.
I believe the idea of 'new public commons' has its significance in changing the administrative services by working in concert with citizens. In particular, as a recent case, regions affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake saw many private organizations engaged in a variety of activities, including mental support to people affected by the disaster and follow-up support to those in temporary housing.
Although there is still room for improvement in terms of system, I perceive that we are coming to the stage of fully putting this idea into practice in tandem with the development of the system.
As you are the ones who have the best grasp of what is going on at the site, I expect you to make active contributions to the discussion going forward."
