The Prime Minister Attends the Meeting of the Tax Commission
Saturday, December 10, 2011
In the early morning of December 10, Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda attended the 26th meeting of the Tax Commission in FY2011 (chaired by Minister of Finance Jun Azumi) held at the Prime Minister's Office, and received a commission report from its Chair on the guidelines of the reform of the tax system in FY2012.
The Prime Minister said in his address, "Concerning the FY2012 tax reform, highly enthusiastic discussion was held among the members of the Tax Commission as well as the ruling parties. I thank the members of the Tax Commission as well as officials from various ministries who supported them, and the members of the ruling parties, from the bottom of my heart for all their efforts.
I perceive that the proposals for the FY2012 tax reform presented here, including the vehicle taxation, have been compiled from the point of view of the people and with consideration to the current economic situation.
After the FY2012 tax reform awaits the comprehensive reform of social security and taxation systems, which is another major task. I earnestly ask for your even greater cooperation going forward.
