Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama welcomed to the Prime Minister's Office Mr. Wen Jiabao, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, and held a welcome ceremony in the South Garden.

Then the two leaders held talks and discussed a range of topics including bilateral relations, people-to-people exchanges, cultural exchanges, expansion of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, issues between the two countries, and bilateral cooperation.

After the meeting, the leaders attended the signing ceremony for the Japan-China Food Safety Promotion Initiative, the memorandum on the holding of regular meetings of the Japan-China Energy Conservation Forum, the memorandum on human resources development for energy conservation, and the memorandum on the establishment of a policy dialogue forum on e-commerce.
