Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama held the second meeting of the Headquarters against Foot-and-Mouth Disease at the Prime Minister's Office.

At the start of the meeting, the Prime Minister said, "The government has so far been considering measures to prevent the spread of the disease, but the situation requires urgent and drastic steps including vaccination. I would like to work together with you as one with a firm resolve to take determined responses as the government."
