Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama held the seventh meeting of the New Public Commons Roundtable at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussions took place on the draft of the Declaration of "New Public Commons," and other matters.

The Prime Minister said in his address, "I feel major embryonic movements of change for the Japanese society. What has existed up to now was a society of mutual dependence, but henceforth it will be one of mutual support. This society will be one where individuals work on a basis of self-reliance while supporting one another in appreciation of others. This will create a new market as well as new economic activities, which will in turn generate vitality. As an outcome, social costs will decline despite the increased happiness. I think Japan will transform into an extremely ideal society."
