Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama attended the 44th ceremony held in Tokyo inaugurating the joint training for new civil servants, and delivered an address to them.

Prime Minister Hatoyama said, "A world free of the barriers of jurisdiction within the government, the barriers between the public and private sectors, and even the barriers separating countries and regions. I am looking forward to see you carving out this new age. You are now standing at the starting line for this endeavor. We have also arrived at the starting line as a new government. Let us join hands together, encouraging one another with shared aspirations. I would like to conclude my address by extending my sincere wish that your design of the future will match the people's vision. I hope each one of you will do your best. Let us all do our best."
