Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama observed in Tokyo an elderly nursing healthcare facility, and a small-scale multi-functional home-based nursing facility and a group home in the same building.

After visiting these sites, Prime Minister Hatoyama stated his impressions, saying, "I had this opportunity today to visit two sites of remarkable facilities. The government must consider ways to ensure that those living in the regions can lead a fulfilling life. We will need the cooperation of volunteers as well. This has been a good opportunity to learn how we build a society, through a new public commons, where people support each other."
