The Prime Minister Attends the Children's Food Session
Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama attended the Children's Food Session held at a hotel in Tokyo, and received recommendations from Children's Food Ambassadors for improving Japan's food self-sufficiency.
The Children's Food Session is an event where children who are to shoulder the future consider Japan's food self-sufficiency from their own perspective. On the preceding day, the Children's Food Ambassadors brainstormed about actions related to food self-sufficiency and submitted recommendations to Mr. Hirotaka Akamatsu, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
Upon receiving the recommendations, Prime Minister Hatoyama said, "By coming up with various ideas and implementing them one by one, we can certainly improve Japan's food self-sufficiency. I think this campaign in itself will help accelerate the increase of the self-sufficiency rate. Since it will absolutely be useful, please carry on with confidence in your hearts."
