Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama held the 88th meeting of the Council for Science and Technology Policy at the Prime Minister's Office.

During the meeting, discussions took place on basic policy for the management of the support program for cutting-edge next-generation research and development, and efforts to realize a prioritized and efficient budget related to science and technology.

In his address, Prime Minister Hatoyama said, "I call upon you to take the lead in science and technology policy, so that young researchers and female researchers in particular can demonstrate their abilities to the fullest extent under the growth strategy that we formulated at the end of last year."
