Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama held the presentation ceremony of the Prime Minister's Award to the winner of the 42nd Japan Professional Sports Grand Prize at the Prime Minister's Office.

The Japan Professional Sports Grand Prize is awarded each year to the individual or group that is deemed to have made the largest total contribution to overall professional sports throughout the country. The Grand Prize for the year 2009 was awarded to Mr. Ryo Ishikawa, a professional golf player who became the youngest top earner. Mr. Ishikawa won the prize two years in a row. The Prime Minister conferred the Award upon him.

Mr. Ishikawa presented Prime Minister Hatoyama with a putter as a commemorative gift.
