Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama visited four places, including a small- and medium-sized enterprise (SME) and a shopping district in Tokyo, and welfare facilities in Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture.

First, Prime Minister Hatoyama visited Kamijima Netsushori, an SME in Ota City. After exchanging views with the president of the company, the Prime Minister observed a quenching kiln facility in their factory.

The Prime Minister then visited Higurashi no Ie, a service provider supporting the daily lives of the elderly in Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture, and talked with elderly people using the service.

Returning to Tokyo, Prime Minister Hatoyama visited Aflac Parents' House Asakusabashi, a welfare facility in Taito City for children with intractable diseases and their families, and the Tateishi Nakamise Shopping District in Katsushika City.

Prime Minister Hatoyama stated his impressions after the observation, saying, "The shopping district in Tateishi was filled with vibrancy. People were so affectionate and friendly. People in a shopping district such as this represent the true nature of the Japanese people. I am determined to make efforts to create bonds within society so that the people in shopping districts can vibrantly work for their communities."
