Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama held the 87th meeting of the Council for Science and Technology Policy at the Prime Minister's Office.

During the meeting, discussions took place on the determination of priority among science and technology measures in FY2010 budget requests; and the understanding and compilation of opinions concerning activities related to science and technology of incorporated administrative agencies, incorporated national universities, and other organizations.

In the address, Prime Minister Hatoyama said, "The Council has determined priority among science and technology policies in a manner open to the public. This is a new endeavor. It is important that the Council indicate its understanding on the importance of science and technology in a manner transparent to the public. I believe the public participation will help the people deepen their understanding of the importance of science and technology."
