First Day of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting
After his arrival, Prime Minister Hatoyama held talks with Mr. Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore. Following the meeting, Prime Minister Hatoyama attended the opening ceremony of the Japan Creative Centre (JCC).
The JCC was established, upon Prime Minister Lee's proposal, with the cooperation of the two governments, as a new base in Singapore for disseminating information on Japan and its culture.
Later, Prime Minister Hatoyama held talks with His Majesty Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
In the afternoon, Prime Minister Hatoyama attended the Leaders Retreat Session I of the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, following which he took part in the dialogue with the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC).
In the evening, the leaders of countries attended a photograph session clad in ethnic garments.
Before the photograph session, Prime Minister Hatoyama held talks with Mr. Felipe Calderon Hinojosa, President of the United Mexican States.
