Messages of Condolences from Prime Minister Shinzo Abe following the damages caused by the typhoon that hit the Southern Philippines and the fire incident in Davao City

On December 25, following the damages resulting from the typhoon (Tembin in English name or Vinta in the Philippine name) that hit the Southern Philippines from December 22 to 23 and the fire incident in Davao City on December 23, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan delivered the following message of condolences to H.E. Mr. Rodrigo R. Duterte, President of the Republic of the Philippines.
“I am deeply saddened and worried to learn the news that many precious lives were lost and serious damages were brought, including collapsed houses, forcing many people to evacuate, in your home region of Mindanao and other parts of the Philippines due to the recent typhoon.
On behalf of the Japanese government and people, I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families, and express my sympathy to those who were affected.
I would also like to convey my sincere condolences on the fire in Davao City which caused many casualties.
Japan expresses heartfelt solidarity to the Philippines as we fully understand the hardship caused by the severe damage of typhoons. Japan stands with the Philippines in overcoming this time of difficulties. Japan is ready to provide assistance needed by your country including provision of emergency relief goods to the maximum extent possible and sincerely pray that the affected areas will recover as quickly as possible.”
