On April 7, 2020, the Prime Minister held the fourth meeting of the Council on Economic and Fiscal Policy in 2020 at the Prime Minister’s Office.

At the meeting, the participants held discussions on the emergency economic measures.

Following the discussion, the Prime Minister said,

“Today, we held a discussion on the emergency economic measures.

After this Council meeting, we will hold an extraordinary Cabinet meeting and approve these economic measures. Under Minister Nishimura, the relevant ministries worked in unity and compiled these measures at the exceptional speed of 10 days.

We will protect the lives and lifestyles of the public, and achieve economic revitalization.

We will provide reassurance to those in difficulty. This is precisely the time to show what the government exists for. The Abe Cabinet will implement these economic measures with great resolve.”
