On March 12, 2020, the Prime Minister held a press conference at the Prime Minister’s Office.
Regarding the statement by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Prime Minister said,
“I believe it was a decision in response to the ongoing spread of infections around the world. I intend for Japan to collaborate with the international community and strengthen our responses.
Regarding our domestic responses, we have put in place all possible measures to protect the health and lives of the public. We will make decisions on and implement measures deemed necessary without hesitation, remaining vigilant. We will exert every effort to prevent the spread of infections.”
