Administrative Reform Promotion Council
December 11, 2019
[Provisional Translation]
On December 11, 2019, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held the 37th meeting of the Administrative Reform Promotion Council at the Prime Minister’s Office.
At the meeting, a discussion was held on the summaries of the FY2019 “Autumn Review” and other matters.
Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said,
“Some Council members highly regarded that we have continued this ‘Autumn Review’ for seven consecutive years. Once again, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone on this Council for your cooperation on this year’s ‘Autumn Review.’
Administrative reforms are an important measure for improving policy effectiveness and maintaining the trust of the people in the Government. In implementing various projects using taxes paid by the public as the Government, we must make constant improvements so as to make them more effective and efficient. I believe that this review of administrative programs, the outcome of which will become available to the public, provides an important opportunity to that end.
This year, the Council discussed a wide range of themes including regional revitalization, global warming initiatives, as well as increasing employment and human resource development, and summarized its discussions. We will take them into consideration in the budget for next fiscal year and exert even greater efforts on improving our programs.
Today, while the allocated time was limited, each member took the floor. We intend to implement policies, seriously taking them into consideration. I would also like to ask the members of the Council for your continued cooperation.”
