On May 28, 2019, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held a press conference at the Prime Minister’s Office.

On the mass stabbing incident in Kawasaki, the Prime Minister said,

“The incident was extremely harrowing and I feel strong indignation over the fact that small children were victimized in this incident.

I express my sincere condolences for those who lost their lives, and my deepest sympathies to the bereaved families. I would also like to wish for the full recovery of those injured.

We must ensure the safety of our children no matter what it takes.

Earlier, I have instructed the relevant ministers to take measures swiftly to secure the safety of children on their way to and from school.”
