Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held the 13th meeting of the Strategic Headquarters for Space Development at the Prime Minister's Office.

At the meeting, the Work Schedule of the Basic Plan for Space Policy based on the progress in discussions at the Committee on the National Space Policy was discussed.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said in his address,

“We will revise the work schedule of the Basic Plan for Space Policy within the year toward the creation of an internationally competitive space industry. Please prioritize work on the following three points.

First, we will aim to establish tow space-related bill as quickly as possible. This will be indispensable for the creation of space businesses. Second, we will work to establish technology and business models in order to connect the accurate measurements that we will be able to achieve ahead of the rest of the world in 2018 using quasi-zenith satellites with dramatic increases in productivity in the agriculture and construction sectors. Third, we will further strengthen support for the development of Japan’s space systems overseas.

Please collaborate thoroughly with the relevant ministers, including the Minister of State for Space Policy, in order to achieve all of this.”
