Meeting of the Council on National Strategic Special Zones
Tuesday, September 30, 2014
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held the eighth meeting of the Council on National Strategic Special Zones at the Prime Minister's Office.
During the meeting, debate took place on the “holding of special zone meetings” and “additional regulatory reforms.”
Based on the discussion in the meeting, the Prime Minister said the following in his address,
“Today we certified plans related to reform projects that epitomize the Special Zones, in regard to medical care in the Kansai area and employment in Fukuoka City.
And, at last, with the start of Special Zones tomorrow in the Tokyo area, and by the end of the month in Okinawa Prefecture, all the Special Zones will be fully operational.
From now on, specific regulatory reforms will be continuously realized in the six Special Zones.
Building on this trend, I will submit a Bill for the Revision of the Law on National Strategic Special Zones that incorporates additional regulatory reforms at this extraordinary Diet session.
We will carry out the further realization of reform of vested interests, while taking into consideration the proposals put forward by private-sector members in the roadmap. I would like to request the continued, kind cooperation of each and every one of you. Thank you.”
