Prime Minister Shinzo Abe received a courtesy call from members of the Heads of Asian Coast Guard Agencies at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The Prime Minister stated the following in his opening address,
“It is wonderful that the Heads of Asian Coast Guard Agencies Meeting has continued for ten years, through the assistance of the Nippon Foundation. I would like to again express my gratitude to the Nippon Foundation, its Chairman Mr. Yohei Sasakawa, and all of you.
For Asian countries on the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, marine prosperity, stability, and peace are important elements for our development.
With this understanding, you who are charged with law enforcement gather together and exchange opinions. Moreover, this time a joint training will be conducted in the ocean off Haneda, and I am sure it will have significant results.
The ocean is truly for the benefit of all, so it is extremely important to respect international law and to protect marine security.
I will end my remarks with the hope that you will continue your activities to thoroughly protect the safety of this marine region, with this Agency at the core.”
