Meeting with Managers of Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises in Monodzukuri (Manufacturing)
Wednesday, December 4, 2013
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held a meeting with managers of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in manufacturing in Tokyo.
The Prime Minister said in his address,
"Today, with five female managers joining us, I feel the fresh wind blowing in the new era. Manufacturing, SMEs, and female managers - these are also key themes of the Abe administration, and we will work to create even better policies in these areas. Indeed, a former Commissioner of the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency, Mr. Hasegawa, is one of the key members of the Abe administration. In terms of breaking down gender barriers, the newly appointed Executive Secretary to the Prime Minister Yamada is supporting me as the first female Executive Secretary to the Prime Minister in the history of Japan's constitutional government.
As for manufacturing subsidies, I pledge to further enhance these measures. We will support manufacturing. We will convey the message that we will fully support SMEs and small-scale enterprises in manufacturing in particular."
