The Prime Minister Attends the Opening Ceremony of the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF)
Thursday, October 17, 2013
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended the opening ceremony of the 26th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) held in Tokyo.
The Prime Minister said in his address,
"We are now advancing new economic policies and hoping to truly grow the economy of Japan. A central pillar of that is the Japanese content industry. I want to keep on disseminating Japanese content to the world.
This week I gave my policy speech to the Diet. Its theme was 'Will Power.'
I believe that whether or not we can revitalize the economy, and whether or not we can keep on disseminating Japanese films to the world truly depends on our will power.
The film industry of Japan has enormous potential. I want us to keep on supporting the 'challengers' who draw out that potential.
I would like to close my remarks today by expressing hope for the development of the Japanese film industry, the success of the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF), and finally that the films of the world will continue to fill many people with emotions, excitement, courage, and dreams."
