Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended the Meeting of the Government and Ruling Parties on the Mid-term Fiscal Plan and FY2014 Guidelines for Budget Requests at the Prime Minister's Office.

During the meeting, there were discussions on the mid-term fiscal plan and the FY2014 guidelines for budget requests.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said,

"The FY2014 budget is the first budget that the Abe Cabinet is undertaking from the budget request phase, and is an important budget for overcoming deflation and ensuring that we achieve the FY2015 fiscal soundness targets without fail.
From the standpoint of ensuring the achievement of the fiscal soundness targets and securing the reassurance of the people and confidence in the Government, while aiming for the realization of the positive cycle of economic revitalization and fiscal soundness, we will establish a credible mid-term fiscal plan, and under this plan, work to dynamically improve the efficiency and prioritization of the budget.
The mid-term fiscal plan and the FY2014 guidelines for budget requests which were presented today are in line with this policy. For their implementation, I ask for the extensive cooperation of the senior officials of the ruling parties and relevant ministers."
