Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended the 16th Nippon Jamboree (16NJ) and 30th Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Jamboree (30APRSJ) in Kirara-hama in Yamaguchi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.

During the Arena Show, the Prime Minister said the following and offered words of encouragement to the participants.

"Being part of the Boy Scouts is a terrific activity that enables boys, from childhood to adolescence, to learn about the importance and value of working hard in cooperation with others, and to learn about the virtue of serving the community and society and helping people, through a variety of programs, including social service activities and outdoor nature experiences, while interacting with many people.
The 16NJ/30APRSJ is the largest Boy Scout jamboree held in Japan, and is also the jamboree which precedes the 23rd World Scout Jamboree (23WSJ) to be held two years from now.
As demonstrated by the theme of 23WSJ, 'Wa: A Spirit of Unity,' I look forward to a fruitful jamboree in which the participants from countries and regions around the world are able to have a variety of experiences together and understand each other's cultures and views, and deepen their kizuna."
