Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held the 13th meeting of the Council on Economic and Fiscal Policy at the Prime Minister's Office.

During the meeting, discussion took place on the state of issues under consideration, globalization, the policy for economic and fiscal management moving forward, and the formulation of Basic Policies.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said,

"From private-sector members, we hear thoughts on the direction for new economic and fiscal management in a world that has seen advanced globalization, and the kind of economy and society we should aim to create over the next decade of recovery and thereafter.
I hope to reflect as much of today's discussion as possible in the Basic Policies.
At that time, I hope economic revitalization will promote fiscal soundness, and I ask that everyone aim for a virtuous cycle in which the advancement of fiscal soundness makes contributions to the further advancement of economic revitalization, and make clear a way in which we can balance economic revitalization and fiscal soundness.
Today we are about to begin discussion toward the compilation of the Basic Policies. Up until now, the real economy has been changing through our 'three prongs' initiatives. Based on the reports from Minister Yamamato, Minister Ota, and Minister Furuya today, I want everyone to thoroughly compile the Basic Policies as a 'basic strategy toward a decade of recovery' in order to ensure that positive changes to overcome deflation are connected to a more certain economic recovery.
In regard to the report from Senior Vice Minister Nishimura, I was able to hear the voices of each area of Japan and passion for the creation of a society of mutual help. There will be no revitalization of the Japanese economy without the revitalization of regional economy. I hope that everyone will utilize the voices and opinions we have gathered in the Basic Policies."
