Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held the 25th meeting of the Global Warming Prevention Headquarters at the Diet Building.

Discussion took place on the immediate-term policy on the countermeasures against global warming.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said,

"According to the 'immediate-term policy' decided today, we would like to seamlessly promote countermeasures against global warming in the future as well, and to link those countermeasures with the global warming countermeasures plan that will be newly set forth.
The basic policy of Japan, to contribute in the world's countermeasures against global warming using the most advanced technology, and to create a low-carbon society, is unchanged. It is important that countermeasures are carried forth with the participation of all the people, with the whole country's efforts united as one. I would like to ask each minister to especially reinforce the efforts therefor.
In addition, responses to the problem of air pollution in Asia from substances such as PM2.5 and photochemical oxidants are becoming a concern among the people. Today, there was a proposal from Mr. Nobuteru Ishihara, Minister of the Environment, on the strengthening of cooperation in the Asian region for resolving this problem.
I would like to ask the Minister of Environment and other relevant ministers to collaborate, to specify proposals promptly, and to start with efforts for realizing the proposals through various bilateral and multilateral consultations."
