Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended the Liaison Meeting of the Government and Ruling Parties at the Prime Minister's Office.

The Prime Minister said in his opening address,

"The Ordinary Diet session convened last week. With policy speech and interpellation sessions regarding the speech having been implemented, discussions on the supplementary budget finally start this week. We are willing to continuously give thorough and detailed explanation to the people, so as to realize the passage of the FY2012 supplementary budget, the FY2013 budget, and related bills.
I visited Okinawa Prefecture the day before yesterday. I considered starting with restoring the trust that was lost in the past three years under the government led by the Democratic Party of Japan. By directly talking with the Governor, I believe we were able to make a start towards rebuilding the mutual trust among the leaders. I visited various places in the Prefecture, and was able to gain firsthand knowledge of the actual situation. While listening earnestly to the voices of people in Okinawa, I would like to continuously cooperate together with you for the reconstruction of Okinawa and the reduction of the burden in connection with the bases of the US Forces in Japan.
Further, ten Japanese nationals who were actively working in Algeria became victims of terrorism the other day. This is utterly a matter of great regret. It is essential for the growth, development and international cooperation of Japan that Japanese nationals and companies are able to implement activities safely abroad. The government had started specific verification on measures to be taken for self defense. Also based on discussions in the ruling parties, we would like to carry forth necessary countermeasures in the future."
