On February 24, Ms. TAKAICHI Sanae, Prime Minister of Japan, issued a written message for the “Virtual Leaders Meeting of the Coalition of the Willing on Ukraine”, which was hosted by the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the French Republic. The message content is as follows:

1.  It is regrettable that four years have passed since Russia's aggression against Ukraine began. Unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force must not be tolerated. We express our respect for the vigorous efforts of all countries involved to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.

2. It is vital to bring peace to Ukraine as soon as possible. It is essential that relevant countries work together in solidarity to support Ukraine, with involvement of the United States, so that the future of Ukraine is shaped in accordance with the will of Ukraine.

3. Japan has provided generators and other items in response to the severe winter conditions facing Ukraine, and has announced and is implementing approximately $20 billion in assistance, including approximately $6 billion in financial support announced last December. Japan will contribute to Ukraine's efforts to strengthen its social and economic resilience through public-private partnership assistance for recovery and reconstruction.

4. Furthermore, pressure on Russia must continue, and Japan will continue to impose sanctions against Russia.

5.  Japan will never waver in its consistent position of standing with Ukraine. Japan will work closely with the international community.
