November 11, 2024
Cabinet Decision
[Provisional translation]

Today, I once again have been given the honor of bearing the heavy responsibilities of Prime Minister of Japan.

I sincerely and solemnly accept the judgment of the people as expressed in the recent general election. Under the Cabinet of the ruling coalition of the Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito, I will devote myself wholeheartedly to ensure there is no stagnation in the government, while seeking the understanding and cooperation of the people, as well as each party and group.

I aim to shape and safeguard Japan’s future and realize the revitalization of Japan based on five key pillars: “upholding the rules,” “protecting Japan,” “protecting the people,” “protecting local communities,” and “protecting opportunities for youth and women.”

I will vigorously advance key initiatives, including diplomacy that considers Japan’s realistic national interests, a fundamental strengthening of defense capabilities, the realization of a growth-oriented economy led by wage increases and investments, the restart of regional revitalization, and the establishment of a disaster-resilient nation that prioritizes human life. Through these efforts, I aim to create a society that brings security and safety to all people.

To achieve this, we will promote a politics that is truthful, courageous, and sincere-- one that is humble, warm, and action-oriented, and that earns the understanding and empathy of the Japanese people.

I ask for your understanding and cooperation.
