Congratulatory Letter from Prime Minister Kishida to Prime Minister of Italy Meloni

On October 24, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, sent a congratulatory letter to H. E. Ms. Giorgia Meloni, President of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic, who assumed the office of Prime Minister upon the formation of a new government in Italy.
 
1. In the letter, Prime Minister Kishida expressed his intention to work closely with Prime Minister Meloni to further develop the Japan-Italy relationship as important partners that share fundamental values. He also stated that he hoped to work closely with Italy toward realizing a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific”.
 
2. Moreover, Prime Minister Kishida stated that he hoped to work closely with Italy, which will take over the G7 presidency the year after next, to address various issues of the international community at the G7 Hiroshima Summit under Japan’s presidency.
