Prime Minister Kishida's Attendance at the Japan-Saudi Arabia Business Round Table (Summary)
On July 16, commencing at 3:35 p.m. local time (9:35 p.m. Japan Standard time) for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, who is visiting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, attended the “Japan-Saudi Arabia Business Round Table” organized by JETRO and the Ministry of Investment of Saudi Arabia The overview of the roundtable is as follows.
The roundtable was attended by H.E. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Faleh, Minister of Investment, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and other government officials from the Saudi Arabia side as well as public and private sector officials from Japan and Saudi Arabia, including participants in the economic mission that visited Saudi Arabia with Prime Minister Kishida, who had a lively exchange of views.
- At the opening of the event, Minister Faleh welcomed, on behalf of the Saudi side, the Japanese delegation consisting of public and private sectors, and expressed his expectations for partnerships and technologies with Japanese companies, as new technologies such as hydrogen and ammonia are also expected in addition to the traditional energy-centered bilateral relationship.
- Prime Minister Kishida pointed out the importance of Saudi Arabia as a strategic energy security partner of Japan, and stated that the Japanese government will actively support the promotion of investment and human resource development between the two countries. He also expressed his hope that Japanese public and private sector initiatives will contribute to Saudi Arabia's industrial diversification and economic and social reforms, which in turn will further strengthen bilateral relations.
- Also, on this occasion, Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) was signed and exchanged by companies from both countries.
