Summit Meeting between Prime Minister Kishida and President Duda of the Republic of Poland (Summary)

On March 22, for about 25 minutes from 9:25 a.m. local time (17:25 p.m. Japan time) , Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio, who is visiting the Republic of Poland, held a summit meeting with H.E. Dr. Andrzej Duda, President of the Republic of Poland. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
1. Prime Minister Kishida stated that he was pleased to visit Poland for the first time in 10 years as prime minister of Japan and expressed his respect for the great role Poland is playing on the front line as a military and humanitarian base for Ukraine. He also expressed his gratitude for Poland's cooperation in his visit to Ukraine.
2. President Duda expressed his high appreciation for Prime Minister Kishida's visit to Ukraine as the the G7 chair, and he also appreciated Japan's support and stated his expectations for Japan's leadership as the G7 chair.
3. Both leaders confirmed that unilateral changes in the status quo by force must not be tolerated anywhere in the world, and frankly exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine and ways to further develop bilateral relations.
