On March 6, 2024, Prime Minister Kishida attended the awards ceremony for the "Digi-den Koshien 2023" (National Championship for Achieving a Digital Garden City Nation 2023) at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Prime Minister Kishida said in his address,

“Good evening. I am KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan.

I would like to offer my heartfelt congratulations to the recipients of each award of the ‘Digi-den Koshien 2023’ this time. I also express my sincere gratitude to the judges for your cooperation and your attendance at the ceremony.

Under the Vision for a Digital Garden City Nation, where we will seek to achieve bottom-up growth from regional areas to the nation as a while with the power of digital technologies, initiatives to leverage these technologies to resolve regional challenges are steadily under way throughout the country, including a maternal and child health handbook app and municipal service counters that exempt residents from handwriting application forms.

All of your initiatives cover highly important challenges currently facing the public, including as healthcare, nursing care, disaster prevention, infrastructure management, regional transportation, and agriculture, and are outstanding in that they actually offer specific solutions under public-private and industry-government-academia collaboration as well as partnership among organizations well-versed in local circumstances such as financial institutions and media organizations.

In addition, we will widely promote your award-winning good practices such as by publishing them in a catalog of services and systems that support good practices of digital implementation, thereby advancing digital implementation in every corner of the country and realizing a society where everyone can lead a convenient and comfortable life everywhere in the country.

Let me conclude my remarks by sincerely asking for your continued support. My heartfelt congratulations to you today.”
