On February 9, 2024, Prime Minister Kishida attended the 17th meeting of the Ministerial Council on Acceptance and Inclusion of Foreign Human Resources at the Prime Minister’s Office.

At the meeting, a discussion was held on the final report from the expert panel on the state of Technical Intern Training Program and Specified Skilled Worker Program and other matters.

Following the discussion, Prime Minister Kishida said,

“In today’s meeting, we approved the government response based on the final report from the expert panel on the state of Technical Intern Training Program and Specified Skilled Worker Program.

The Government will push ahead with the review of the Technical Intern Training Program and Specified Skilled Worker Program in line with the policy we approved today from a perspective of realizing a cohesive society and making Japan a country that overseas human resources will choose as a place to work in.

I ask each minister to continue to strengthen collaboration toward proper and smooth acceptance of foreign human resources under the general coordination function of the Ministry of Justice and develop acceptance environments for overseas human resources, including accelerating efforts to submit relevant bills to the current Diet session.”
