In Malaysia, I held the first Summit meeting with Prime Minister Anwar, during which we concurred to strengthen security and defense cooperation as well as economic cooperation including the improvement of the investment environment.

Next month, at last, Japan will host the Commemorative Summit for the 50th Year of ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations)-Japan Friendship and Cooperation. Building on the friendly ties deepened during this visit, I will further deepen cooperation with ASEAN countries.”
