Visit to Iwate Prefecture and Miyagi Prefecture

On October 16, 2021, the Prime Minister visited Iwate Prefecture and Miyagi Prefecture.

The Prime Minister offered flowers and a silent prayer at the Takatamatsubara Memorial Park and visited the Iwate Tsunami Memorial Museum in the City of Rikuzentakata, Iwate Prefecture. He then held a round-table talk in the Ofunato Fish Market in Ofunato City and visited a commercial facility.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister received an explanation on the progress in reconstruction at the Kesennuma Community Plaza and visited the facility in the Naiwan area of Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture. He then offered flowers and a silent prayer at the Ishinomaki Minamihama Tsunami Memorial Park in Ishinomaki City and toured the memorial museum, followed by his visit to a kamaboko fishcake factory. Lastly, he held a round-table talk at the Matsushima Town Culture and Tourism Exchange Center in Matsushima Town. Afterwards, the Prime Minister spoke to the press regarding the visit to Iwate Prefecture and Miyagi Prefecture.
