HTML Version
The former Kantei, the official residence of the Japanese Prime Minister, was completed on March 18, 1929.
Since then, it had played an active role in 73 years of history. During this period, it has witnessed the
tumultuous times that accompanied the tenures of 42 Prime Ministers, from Giichi Tanaka to Junichiro Koizumi.
With the completion of the new Kantei in April 2002, the curtain came down on its long history.
We now introduce, with the help of video and still photographs, a record of the Kantei's various rooms,
gardens, furnishings and decorations rich in history
We hope you enjoy the presentation.
