REPORTER: I have a question on a different topic. The Government has announced that with regard to information on what to do in the event of a ballistic missile strike, in addition to information already available on the Civil Protection Portal Site, publicity activities will be broadened to include television commercials and newspaper advertisements. These new measures are due to be implemented from tomorrow, so can I ask about their objective and the timing for their implementation?

CHIEF CABINET SECRETARY SUGA: Firstly, information on “Actions to take in the event of a ballistic missile strike” has been compiled in order to inform the public about the actions they should take to protect themselves in the event of a missile strike. We have endeavored to disseminate this information to the people through the Cabinet Secretariat’s website and through local governments. However, we consider that this information still has yet to be sufficiently understood by the public. Given this situation, the Government has decided to broadcast a commercial of the Public Relations Office to increase the awareness of the broader public. In addition to broadcasting television commercials, the Government will also use other media, including advertisements under newspaper articles and online advertisements.
