Prime Minister’s Office Social Media Policy

1. Overview
This policy sets forth the operational guidelines for the official social media accounts (hereinafter referred to as "the Accounts") of the Prime Minister’s Office.
The operational policies for the “Prime Minister’s Office of Japan X account (@JPN_PMO),” the “Prime Minister’s Office of Japan Facebook page,” and the “Prime Minister’s Office of Japan YouTube Channel” are hereby superseded by this Policy.
2. Basic Policy
The purpose of the Accounts is to deepen public understanding of Cabinet policies and to enhance user experience by providing updates from the Prime Minister’s Office website and related information.
The Accounts are used exclusively for the purpose of disseminating information and, as a general rule, do not respond to replies or other forms of engagement from users.
3. Operation Method
The Accounts are operated by the Cabinet Public Affairs Office of the Cabinet Secretariat (hereinafter referred to as “the Office”) and are intended to disseminate the following information:
- Content published on the Prime Minister’s Office website
- Other information related to Cabinet policies that is of significant public interest or requires public awareness
4. Disclaimer
- While every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the information provided through the Accounts, the Office shall not be liable for any actions taken by users based on the said information.
- The Office shall not be responsible for any replies, citations, reposts, comments, or other content provided by users to the Accounts.
- The Office shall not be liable for any issues or disputes arising in connection with the Accounts, whether between users or between users and third parties.
- Copyright and other intellectual property rights related to comments and other user-generated content shall remain with the respective users. However, by providing such content to the Account through comments or other forms of engagement, users are deemed to have granted the Office a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use the content and to have agreed not to exercise any copyright or other related rights against the Office.
- Content is subject to change, relocation, deletion, or other modifications without prior notice.
- Each Account may be suspended, have posts or comments deleted, or be terminated without prior notice.
5. Deletion of Comments Made by Users, etc.
If any of the following apply, the Office may delete user posts or block user accounts without prior notice:
- Content that violates, or may potentially violate, laws or regulations
- Content that defames or slanders specific individuals, organizations, or other entities
- Content intended for political or religious activities
- Content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of the Office or any third party, including copyrights, trademark rights, or rights of publicity, and other related rights
- Content intended for advertising, promotion, solicitation, business activities, or any other for-profit purpose
- Content that constitutes or promotes discrimination based on race, belief, creed, or other attributes
- Content that is contrary to public order or good morals
- Content that is false or factually incorrect, or that consists solely of unfounded rumors or promotes the spread of such rumors
- Content that infringes on privacy, such as the identification, disclosure, or leakage of personal information without the consent of the individual concerned
- Content that involves impersonation of other users, third parties, or other entities
- Content intended to redirect viewers to other websites or external sources without confirming their intent
- Content that induces harmful programs
- Identical or similar comments repeatedly posted by the same user
- Obscene or otherwise inappropriate content
- Content that alters, in whole or in part, the information disseminated by the Office
- Content that is unrelated to the information disseminated by the Office
- Content that violates the terms of service of the platform being used
- Any other content deemed inappropriate by the Office, as well as links or other content containing such information
6. Use of Content
By using the information disseminated through these Accounts, users are deemed to have agreed to the Copyright Policy of the Prime Minister’s Office.

7. Use of Shortened URLs
The Accounts may use shortened URLs when displaying link destinations. When a shortened URL is used and the destination domain is not a “.go.jp” domain, the link destination shall be clearly indicated.
8. Notification and Changes to the Operational Policy
This Policy will be made available on the Prime Minister’s Office website and is subject to change without prior notice as necessary.
