On 22 December 2000, Prime Minister Mori awarded an honor, Naikakusoridaijin Kensho, to Miss Mayumi NARITA, who had made outstanding achievements at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games (18-29 October 2000) and contributed significantly to the promotion of sport activities and social participation of disabled persons. Miss Narita won 6 gold medals and 1 silver medal at the Sydney Paralympic swimming events.
